LEGO USS California (BB-44) Battleship [FAN MOC]

The LEGO USS California (BB-44) Battleship

The LEGO USS California (BB-44) Battleship is a custom LEGO creation made by The Bicycling Guitarist. We thank him very much for his many contributions and with his permission we made this model for anyone to download for free on this website and forever!

Since the USS California was a Tennessee Class Battleship, the most noticeable difference it had with the USS Tennessee (BB-43) was the color of the rear turret.

The USS California (BB-44) Battleship

USS California (BB-44), one of two Tennessee-class battleships completed shortly after World War I, was the fifth ship of the United States Navy named in honor of the 31st state. She was the last American battleship built on the West Coast, and the only one of the dreadnought type. She served in the Pacific her entire career, and for twenty years was the flagship of the Pacific Fleet. She was sunk in the attack on Pearl Harbor at her moorings in Battleship Row, but was salvaged and reconstructed. She served again for the remainder of World War II before being decommissioned in 1947. She was sold for scrap in 1959.

About the Creator

The Bicycling Guitarist is an avid LEGO fan who has given The Bobby Brix Channel several MOCs of his own based on our version of the USS Arizona Battleship. From this model he has created an entire fleet of custom LEGO battleships that took part in WWII and were (mostly) present during the attacks on Pearl Harbor.

Since the 1980’s The Bicycling Guitarist has ridden tens of thousands of miles playing the same guitar on the same bicycle writing hundreds of original songs, a few dozen of which are on his YouTube channel:
